Loved as much abroad as she is in her native country Spain, Sabina Pu\u00e9rtolas is a soprano who has triumphed from the United States to China, from Chile to Japan, and most of all in Europe. She is acclaimed for her interpretations of opera roles such as Rodelinda H\u00e4ndel), Norina (Don Pasquale<\/em>), Fiorilla (Il Turco in Italia<\/em>), Manon<\/em> (Massenet), Violetta (La Traviata<\/em>), and Gilda (Rigoletto<\/em>).<\/p>\n

In the 2024\/25 season, he will be immersed in two new leading roles: he will make his debut in the role of Anna Bolena at<\/em> \u00d3pera de Oviedo, and the role of Arrieta's Marina<\/em> at the Teatro de la Zarzuela and at the Festival de Zarzuela in Oviedo. She also returns to the Teatro Real as Ismene in Mitridate<\/em> and is invited by Daniel Oren to sing the role of Gilda in Rigoletto at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste.<\/p>\n

Among its hits of the 2023\/24 season are Violetta (La Traviata<\/em>) at the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez de la Frontera, Gilda (Rigoletto<\/em>) at the ABAO Bilbao Opera, Musetta (La Boh\u00e8me<\/em>) at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno, her debut in the role of Norina (Don Pasquale<\/em>) at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, Do\u00f1a Francisquita at the Teatro de la Zarzuela and the Victoria de los \u00c1ngeles Centenary Gala Concert at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Recently, Sabina Pu\u00e9rtolas has experienced triumph after triumph as Manon (Massenet), one of her signature roles, making her debut at the Teatro Villamarta in 2021 and performing it since then at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, the \u00d3pera de Oviedo and the \u00d3pera de Tenerife. Other recent successes include her debut at New York's Carnegie Hall in September 2022, in a gala concert of Spanish music. La Vanguardia<\/em> wrote, \u2018Sabina Pu\u00e9rtolas sets Carnegie Hall on fire\u2019 and \u2018the soprano dazzled with her zarzuelas, bringing the audience to its feet\u2019. She also continues to perform baroque repertoire, with performances as Teagene in the rediscovered Corselli's opera Achille in Sciro<\/em> at the Teatro Real and as Angelica at the H\u00e4ndel's Orlando<\/em> at the Festival de Peralada.<\/p>

Sabina Pu\u00e9rtolas began her singing studies at the \u2018Pablo Sarasate\u2019 Conservatory in Pamplona, after which she went on to study at the prestigious Accademia Chiggiana in Siena and the Accademia Verdiana in Busetto, under the tutelage of Carlo Bergonzi. She also received master classes from Miguel Zanetti and Victoria de los \u00c1ngeles. She is the winner of the 2003 Operalia singing competition in the Zarzuela category. She has also won prizes in the Riccardo Zandonai, Juli\u00e1n Gayarre Francisca Quart and Manuel Ausensi competitions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In 2001, his career took off after his debut as Oscar in Un ballo in maschera<\/em> at the Teatro alla Scala, under the baton of Riccardo Muti. Since then, she has developed an intense international career, with conductors such as David Curtis, Christophe Rousset, Alain Guingal, Gianluca Capuano, Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez-Cobos, Paolo Arrivabeni, Jean-Christophe Spinosi and Antonino Fogliani. In recent years, he has sung Gilda (Rigoletto<\/em>) at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile; Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia<\/em>) at Seattle Opera; Fiorilla (Il Turco in Italia<\/em>) and Servilia (La clemenza di Tito<\/em>) at Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Capitole de Toulouse; Marie (La fille du r\u00e9giment<\/em>), dirigida por Laurent Pelly, y Contessa di Folleville (Il viaggio a Reims<\/em>) at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the title role in Claus Guth's production of Rodelinda<\/em> at Teatro Real conducted by Ivor Bolton; Despina (Cos\u00ec fan tutte<\/em>), in Jan Philipp Gloger's new production for the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, conducted by Semyon Bychkov. Other notable roles include that of Princess Eudoxie in Olivier Py's production of Hal\u00e9vy's La Juive<\/em> conducted by Daniele Rustioni for the Op\u00e9ra National de Lyon; Morgana (Alcina<\/em>) at La Monnaie (Brussels) and the Dutch National Opera with Christophe Rousset and Pierre Audi; Despina (Cos\u00ec fan tutte<\/em>) with the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, bajo la batuta de Semyon Bychkov; or Drusilla (L’incoronazione di Poppea<\/em>), directed by Claus Guth Satirone and Minerva\/Amore in Il ritorno d’Ulisse<\/em> in Patria de Monteverdi, both at Theater an der Wien.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

From the zarzuela repertoire, Sabina Pu\u00e9rtolas has premiered new productions of La tabernera del puerto<\/em> and Do\u00f1a Francisquita<\/em>, en el Teatro de la Zarzuela, y ha protagonizado Luisa Fernanda, La Generala<\/em> or La del manojo de rosas<\/em>, directed by Emilio Sagi. She has also sung in Marina<\/em>, La Generala <\/em>and La Gran V\u00eda.<\/em><\/p>

Her discography includes Cos\u00ec fan tutte<\/em> (OpusArte), Alcina<\/em> (Alpha Classics), Ariodante<\/em> (Virgin Classics) and La Llama<\/em> by Spanish composer Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Usandizaga (Deutsche Grammophon).
